Most of the Sinhalese people today live in Sri Lanka, a small island off the southern coast of India. The national capital of Sri Lanka is Colombo. There,the climate is tropical monsoon weather most of the year.
In Sri Lanka, the Sinhalese people are Theravada Buddhists and Muslim, but there are a small amount of Christians as well. Besides Buddhism, they believe they are descendants of a Prince.
The official language of the Sinhalese people is called Sinhala. As of now, it is spoken by more than 16 million people in Sri Lanka as well as another 3 million in other countries. (16th most spoken language)
