The Northern Province Ministry of Education has instructed all schools in the Kilinochchi District to be temporarily closed for a week from today (24), according to the Kilinochchi Health Division.

An individual who was traveling in the Kilinochchi district has been identified as a corona patient yesterday. A PCR test conducted on the 72-year-old resident of Kilinochchi displaying COVID-19 symptoms was found to be positive for the viral disease.

Schools in the Kilinochchi District were reopened for the third term yesterday (23) following the onset of the second wave of corona.

However, the Kilinochchi Health Department said that the decision was taken after information was revealed about the places where the infected person had traveled after the opening of the schools.
